This year, DASIP organizers propose you to participate to two different visits:
  • on Wednesday, there is a guided walking tour inside Cracow, following by a lunch.
  • on Thursday, we will have the opportunity to visite the Salt Mines, and have a dinner at 135 meters underground !

Guided Walking Tour, September 23, 2015

The tour will start at the Venue entry at 12.00.
 
One of the oldest and most beautiful cities of Eastern Europe, Krakow, the royal capital of Poland until the 17th century, is known for its impressive medieval architecture, and is also on the UNESCO list of the 12 great historic cities of the world. The tour will include the centerpiece of Krakow, the magnificent Market Square, which is the largest such medieval example of its kind in Europe.
 






It is a central point for exploring the nearby sights: St. Mary's Church with its famous 15th century altar by Wit Stwosz, Cloth Hall, the oldest market in the city operated from 14th century, Statue of Adam Mickiewicz Poland’s most celebrated Romantic poet, Jagiellonian University over 600 yers old and the Florian Gate – the old entrance to the city and the only surviving remnant of the city wall.

Banquet will be held in Wieliczka Salt Mines.
Please meet at the venue entry at 17:00 to leave as a group.
You will be transferred by coach to Wieliczka, only ten miles southeast of Krakow.

 
 

Once you reach Wieliczka you will take part in a 1-hour sightseeing tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Wieliczka Salt Mines. Salt was discovered here in the 11th century.

 


The network of chambers and lakes have been carved out over the centuries. The highlight of the mine is the underground Chapel of the Saint Kinga.
 
The banquet will be held in Haluszka Chamber located 135 meters underground.
