Cooperate on standards, compete on implementation...
CRAFTERS proposes a computing environment for many-core systems derived from vertical domains (represented with selected use cases) that will enable the evolution to horizontal domains by providing common methods, tools and reference platforms for embedded many-core applications.
CRAFTERS integrates an innovation ecosystem spanning from application to silicon. Hence, its relevance covers all the Industrial Priorities. The project results centre around reference designs and architectures that are firmly supported by design methods and tools developed specifically for these reference architectures.
CRAFTERS directly addresses seamless connectivity and middleware by realizing a common middleware layer that is designed to support new wireless communication standards while being portable across different platforms. This is ensured by the driving industrial use-case "Ultra Wide Band –UWB, Positioning and Communications" and is very core to the proposal's ambitions. Contributions brought to bear on seamless connectivity and middleware also serve the other two priorities and are attributable to the project focus on device exploitation. Added industrial value is extracted through greatly facilitated system realization and application deployment enabling rapid service and product diversification to meet the market needs with affordable early offerings.
